JAMES STAGG was one of California's most successful and best-known artists. His paintings of California cityscapes and landscapes have been exhibited and published widely, and they are included in many private and corporate collections.

Born in 1952 in Ogden,Utah, Stagg was educated at the San Francisco Art Institute, the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and the Art Students League in New York. For most of his career he lived and worked in and around San Francisco.  With a studio in both Sausalito and the Hunters Point artist colony in San Francisco, James Stagg has always been in high demand.  He has been commissioned to do paintings for Stanford University, One Market Restaurant, Hyatt Regency Hotels and  MUMM Champagne Winery to name a few.   Some of his prominent private collectors include actors Tom Hanks, Bill Paxton and director Ron Howard.  Mr. Stagg has been represented by Golden Gate Editions and Coit Tower Gallery since 1997.

More than anything, my paintings are
about color and light and a certain
     subtle uneasiness that appears in
       a seemingly normal daily scene”.
